Vivid Video adult entertainment, perhaps the largest and most prestigious of all the pornographic production studios, has started a new line of DVDs under the name of Vivid Alt. Its aim is more at the "homegrown" look of girls who with storylines that are more in tune with a younger generation. I dare call the demographic teens, but it is definately 18-25 type age group. I picked one up the other day as the packaging was more unique. It came in a slimline folded card case (sort of like those ecological CD cases). It is a 3-disc set which features the film, a bonus DVD with all sorts of behind the scenes and extra footage, and then lastly is the soundtrack. They are certainly trying to utilize music as a selling point in the film. It is not your typical synth-pop music, but more of a grunge/heavy metal-style sound from some underground musicians. While the name is suggestive of something different, it has come to my attention that porn is still porn. Underneath the nice camera work, the changing locations, the girl-at-the-biker-bar variety, do not make up for a movie, but rather another porn. To me, if you are fast-forwarding to the good parts, then the movie is not doing its job as a movie. For me, this was unfortunate because I would still rather see Nikki Dial over any of these girls.
