Some New Titles
This DVD release by Cult Epics is limited to only 10,000 copies. A small company to begin with, with a small run (compare to the $100.00 Mickey Mouse Tin with 250,000 copies). Perhaps, for a small company, 10,000 makes for a fairly large run. Nonetheless, it seems like a good buy at a reasonable price.
Also by Cult Epics is the classic horror from Abel Ferrara, Driller Killer. This 2-disc set is only limited to 10,000.
Another fun set is the Seinfeld Limited Boxed Set with Salt and Pepper Shaker. There is no number appropriated to the set to say how many they have made or are making, but it claims Limited as part of the title. Either way, its a nice set and a must for Seinfeld lovers.
The Paul Voorheven Limited Boxed Set is a nice way to get some of rare early works from this Dutch master. These are the films he did before moving out here into the world of Hollywood where he eventually did Total Recall and Basic Instinct.
A collection worth mentioning are the "Mondo Cane" series. This collection features bizarre, strange, outlandish and shocking exploitation films from the 60's. Blue Underground, a small company in pursuit of the cultish type films put together this excellent set of Gualtiero Jacopetti and Franco Prosperi's work in a nice boxed set, which, is limited.
The ones mentioned here are only a very small sampling of what are being called "Limited". It is so hard to discern what might really be limited and what is just promotional propaganda to get the buyers buying. Even the Mickey Mouse Limited Tins. While they were numbered, a lot of them came without the tins, so there were more than the numbers made (probably twice the amount). I suspect smaller companies like Cult Epics would be more honest in their limitations and numbers. Regardless, there are many, many Limited Editions out there and they are fun to collect as well as the OOP DVD's.
Two interesting DVD's I thought I would bring up here are limited SIGNED DVD's that I have seen. Once again, Cult Epics put out a DVD called PIG, now a fairly difficult DVD to find. They released 250 that were signed by the Director Nico B. The other is a signiture DVD, limited to 500, signed by Stan Lee, the famous comic creator of such as Spider-Man and others.
Well, those are some of my latest interest I thought I would share with you.
