Some of the Latest News
If you have been following some of the forum conversations, you would have heard some interesting news. I want to first comment on the release of Mystery Science Theater 3000 Volume 10, which has been recalled due to rights of the Godzilla film. Pretty much all e-Tailers no longer offer this DVD set. You might be lucky if you did an intense search either through google or some small online store. You might also try some of your local retailers as well. I was lucky to pick up a couple from Borders. According to the MST3Kinfo.com, this set will not be re-released any time soon, and so for the 2 and a half months that it has been out, you might consider this item potentially scarce.
There was also talk of MST3K Collections 1 and 3 as going out of print due to rights issues, but this has yet to be seen as they are readily available on most sites. But again, here at mst3kinfo.com, they make the same statement that rights to all four movies of the Collection 1 and one of the movies from Collection 3 have been lost.
In other news, some recent OOP titles that have come up are:
Dark City (evidently set for a re-release, but this has been in the making for some time).
Tom Jones
Henry V
Spartacus But this title has been released on HD-DVD, so it may not come back to DVD, or in a revamped edition. Needless to say, the Criterion Collection is still available and by far the more superior of the bunch.
There is some discussion concerning the upcoming Pedro Almodovar boxed set, whether it will contain the entire Viva Pedro. While nothing has come forth as certain, it remains that a number of Almodovar films are out of print. Amazon has a pre-order for the Pedro Almodovar Classics Collection set for release early next year.
Live Flesh
Tie Me Up, Tie Me Down!
Kika
Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown
The Flower of My Secret
Bad Education
All About Mother
The recent release of The Da Vinci Code has spawned a few versions, and as mentioned in the forum, there is a 3-disc set special to Target. It comes with a documentary developed by A&E on Da Vinci and various "secret codes" of his works. Currently easy to find and no idea how limited it is (if at all).
That is all for now. Check back for some more updates and articles here.
