The original Grey Gardens Criterion Collection has gone out of print, but before you hurry to scrape up the ones that are on the shelves, there is a newer edition set for release. This new version will be a double disc set with a retail price of $49.99. Criterion looks to be raising their prices again. This new edition will feature a 2006 documentary titled "The Beales of Grey Gardens" from director of the original, Albert Maysles. It returns to the house where fashion styles were unearthed and witty arguments spun from the cobwebs of uncleaned corners, and the dark cellars with the cats and rats. The newer version will have the same spine number, the cover photo will be the same, but the graphics will be different. It will feature the new (unappealing) Criterion logo, and also has "The Beales of Grey Gardens" on the cover.
