Flesh and Blood

Unexpectedly, Criterion's Flesh for Frankenstein and Blood for Dracula have both gone out of print. Immediately I went to Amazon to check out the availability.

It said it was out of print. Already prices were looming in the 60 dollar range. I checked eBay and there was nothing. I checked dvdpricesearch, and again, nothing. Last weekend I checked out two local Borders, and they were dried up as well. It appears, as far as I can tell, we have a DVD that will actually be difficult to grab hold of. Right now I see everyone in panic mode hoping to not have to pay 100 bucks for it. Between 60 and 70 are the going rates for a new copy. Anything less will be a bargain. I cannot predict if it will go up or down at this point, for either DVD. It seems that the Frankenstein is a little more difficult to get than Dracula, but this is just guess work as it is still too early to tell - but that is my hunch. Good luck!

In other news, the website is coming along. Updates are periodically happening so keep checking back. I know many of the staple OOP DVD's have yet to be posted like Swamp Thing, Little Shop of Horrors and other earlier Criterions. But they will eventually get onto the site. The aim of the site is not to just be a listing of OOP DVD's, but an informative guide that will help the buyer determine the exact DVD that they are getting and not be fooled into either foreign, bootleg, (or foreign bootleg), and to know if a DVD is actually out of print. You have probably also noticed a price listing next to each picture in the listings. This site will also serve as a guide to the current values of the DVD's based on demand and what people are willing to pay for DVD's. Salo has been known to sell well near $1,000 for a brand new copy. Other DVD's on the other hand are OOP simply because no one knew they were in print to begin with. So to give them away would make more sense (cents even!) than to try and sell them. So till next time, keep a look out!
