BCI/Eclipse Horror, Exploitation and Paul Naschy

BCI/Eclipse worked closely with Deimos to release a series of successful titles, many for the first time released on DVD in the US, some of which were remastered and included special features never before seen. So without further ado, here they are:

THE PAUL NASCHY COLLECTION

Paul Naschy is a well known Spanish actor and director of horror and occult themes. This series focuses his directorial work which includes many alternate takes, deleted scenes and other special features. While these were all released individually, they also came in a complete set, as well Best Buy had double features that were exclusive to their store. In addition, BCI introduced their first Blu-ray title, the double feature of Night of the Werewolf and Vengeance of the Zombies (to poor reviews).

WELCOME TO THE GRINDHOUSE

These were released to great applaud by fans and were a very successful line of titles. Many of these were previously released by Rhino, but later BCI secured the rights and are offered here. The originality of this series was how they were presented, namely as a double feature to simulate the drive-in movie experience. Although you can watch the titles individually, if you choose the "drive-in experience", you are treated to an introduction trailer, the first movie, intermission with more trailers, and then the second feature. This made for an excellent presentation and fun viewing experience. This series later became "Exploitation Cinema Collection".

EXPLOITATION CINEMA

This is the continuing series of the drive-in double feature, now under the name of Exploitation Cinema. A larger, Best Buy Exclusive was released titles Exploitation Cinema Collection which features 20 titles from this and the Grindhouse series.

STARLITE DRIVE-IN

This was Deimos's first series of their drive-in format. Not as successful as the later Grindhouse and Exploitation, perhaps due to it's "disco" look rather than the grungy and seedy theater style of the later series that seemed the more appropriate appeal for that audience.

CRYPT OF TERROR

This series focuses specifically on Spanish and Mexican Horror, or "South of the Border" horror (as one of the sets is called). Select titles were also packaged in Spanish as 'Cripta el Terror'. Night of the Bloody Apes is a well known cult film.

EASTERN HORROR

This series, obviously, focuses on Horror from the East, whether Chinese, Mandarin, Japanese or Taiwanese.

CULT DRIVE-IN

This is a collection that repackages many of the Grindhouse and Exploitation titles into budget packs, each having 8 titles.
