Bank Dick is Out!

I am here at the website of www.criterionco.com and just received word that the DVD The Bank Dick (spine # 78) will be OOP beginning September 1st, 2004. While scoping the current scene on various DVD sites, it seems at the moment it is in abundant quantities and readily available for shipping. The Bank Dick was released in August of 2000 (according to Amazon) and has been in print up to this date (some 4 years), giving ample time for a larger number of copies to go into distribution. With the increase in popularity of the Criterion Collection, it is no doubt that this obscure title from its collection also increased in sales in proportion to its more popular titles, thus, perhaps taking a little time before this title raises in value. Nonetheless, Criterion collectors will not want to miss out before having to spend more than the retail cost.
In addition, about 2 months ago, Fritz Langs classic M, starring Peter Lorre, also went out of print. Before you scratch your heads thinking you missed this one, it still seems readily available as Amazon states it will ship in 24 hours (along with the other Criterions of Notorious, Rebecca, and Straw Dogs all now almost a year out of print). M will return with new print and new features, and more than likely the same spine number (as in the case of Charade, Beauty and the Beast, and The 400 Blows). This is your current update on the OOP DVD info, if you have information and would like to post or keep me informed, please email at ant@rareoopdvds.com.
